The 50 kopek coins of Nicholas II show a wide range of thicknesses of the obverse rim borders. This is one of the widest I have seen.
Here is a nice specimen which should grade at least AU-58 or possibly even MS-63. The obverse shows no signs of rub, but there are numerous little marks. The high points of the crowns on the reverse seem to show just a tiny bit of rub, however. The legend, denticles and especially the date have telltale toning in the recessed parts, indicating that the coin has likely been dipped. The heavy edge toning indicates to me that this coin must have resided for decades in a roll.
Nevertheless, to me this is a highly attractive specimen with great eye-appeal and mint luster.
